For Logan Sargeant, the Formula 2 sprint race in Abu Dhabi was all about being careful while taking as many points as possible. Everything in order to reach the ultimate goal: getting his super licence. That will allow him to join Williams next year.

After Saturday's race, it can be said that that super licence is another step closer, but not quite certain yet. Sargeant finished the race sixth, but theoretically, he could still miss out on the licence. It has to be said: the chances of that happening are very slim. Sunday marks the final race in F2 this season.

Big crash

Saturday's sprint race started with a huge crash. Daruvala went hard into the wall after he himself touched the car of Fittipaldi. It took over half an hour to repair the damage to the fence. The race was then restarted with a rolling start, with Dutchman Richard Verschoor leading. He held the lead for a long time, but in the end, he was no match for Liam Lawson. The Red Bull junior handled his tyres better and won the sprint race. Champion Felipe Drugovich finished third.

F2 main race

Currently, the F2 main race is in full swing and in it, Sargeant seems to be well on his way to securing his super licence. He is third in the championship, but only by a small margin to Liam Lawson. However, sixth place in the final standings is enough to get his licence and he would have to lose a lot of points to miss out on that.
