OFFICIAL | Williams confirm Latifi will leave at the end of 2022
- GPblog.com
Nicholas Latifi is in his final season for Williams. The Grove-based team has announced that it will part ways with the Canadian at the end of 2022. This leaves the door open for Nyck de Vries or Logan Sargeant.
Latifi's departure
After three seasons in Formula 1, the collaboration between Latifi and Williams is coming to an end. The Canadian joined the team in 2020 after his second place in the Formula 2 championship but was never convincing. The Canadian initially had a hard time against George Russell and also loses the duel with Alexander Albon in 2022.
Latifi's departure comes as no surprise, as his position has been under discussion for some time. De Vries and Williams junior Sargeant are the names most associated with his seat. For now, however, it seems that De Vries is going to AlphaTauri, making Sargeant the first American in F1 since Alexander Rossi.
