Starting in 2023, Formula 1 will race on the streets of Las Vegas. The new Grand Prix was generally well received, but Sebastian Vettel says he is not a fan of Formula 1's choice.

Return to Las Vegas

Las Vegas returns to the Formula 1 calendar in 2023. The city hosted the Caesars Palace Grand Prix in 1981 and 1982, but then disappeared from the calendar again. Starting next season, Formula 1 does race on a completely different track. In the 1980s, a track was laid out on a parking lot of one of the casinos, while in 2023 they will race on the city's streets.

Vettel recalls the time he himself was in Las Vegas and he didn't think the city was a success: "I think it's too crowded and people behave badly there," the Aston Martin driver is quoted by FormulaPassion.it. According to the German, people quickly go 'too far' in the American city.

Vettel comes up with alternative

Instead of Las Vegas, Vettel has another circuit in mind for the calendar. "I would rather go to Bathurst. It would be a real challenge, also because I think that circuit is monstrous," says Vettel. Not much chance of success is called Vettel's idea. Currently Bathurst is an FIA grade 3 circuit and there seems little room to upgrade the Australian track to FIA grade 1 status.
