Timetable for Azerbaijan Grand Prix may surprise European F1 fans
- GPblog.com
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is just around the corner and although the event is booked as a European GP, the times for Formula 1 fans in Europe are slightly different than they are used to due to the time difference. Find out what time you need to switch on for all sessions this weekend.
In 2016, the Baku City Circuit debuted on the F1 calendar under the banner of the European Grand Prix. The first edition was not a great success, as the street circuit became more of a parade despite a long straight. Nevertheless, the circuit returned in 2017 as the Azerbaijan GP and it was just as well, because in that year it was a great spectacle with Daniel Ricciardo as the eventual winner.
Red Bull versus Ferrari
The races in Baku can vary enormously in terms of tension, so spectacle is not guaranteed. In 2022, though, it will be interesting to see which team does best here. Ferrari is very fast over a single lap, but Red Bull Racing has shown its ability to peak in races before. With Sergio Perez, the Austrian team also has the latest winner in its ranks.
Max Verstappen, however, will want to do everything he can to restore order within his team and he can start doing so on Friday at 3pm local time during the first free practice session. Locally a normal schedule, but due to the three hour time difference in the UK you have to switch on at 12pm already. This is also true for the rest of the weekend. The third free practice and the race also start at 12pm UK time, while the second free practice and qualifying start at 3pm.
