The last of the asphalt is getting put down on the Zandvoort circuit as the renovation works move on in preparation for the first Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix in 35 years.

The construction work is set to continue for a while, but the track itself is looking much nearer completion now the 'black stuff' is down. At the moment there is asphalt in the Arie Luyendyk bend and also the Hugenholtz bend will no longer consist of sand alone.

This completes the two-round bends at Zandvoort, unique in the international racing world, certainly because the bends are quite steep. In this video, the angle of the slope of the Hugenholtz curve is well represented.

in less than three months, the lights will go out for the start of the race. There seems to be a lot of work left to do, especially as other racing returns to the venue in around one month.
