Charles Leclerc may have been born and raised in Monaco, but the Monte Carlo circuit has brought him little luck. Even in a demonstration run at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, things went wrong: he crashed in the Ferrari that Niki Lauda once drove in action.

The curse of Leclerc in home country Monaco

To promote the event in his home country, Leclerc was allowed to drive a demonstration in Niki Lauda's old Ferrari car. While he was doing that, things went wrong: due to a problem with the brakes, the Monegasque lost control of the car and ended up in the wall.

The previous edition of the Monaco Grand Prix ended in tears for Leclerc, who was allowed to start the race from pole position but was unable to appear at the start due to a problem with his gearbox, which was damaged in a crash during qualifying.

In two weeks' time, Leclerc hopes to get revenge in his home race, scheduled for May 29. There, Ferrari has a good chance of winning this year, and so the Monegasque may be able to break the curse that seems to rest on him.
