On Tuesday, Alpine unveiled the A521. New name, new colours, new driver and new management. Something that did not change in 2021 was the CEO of Renault itself. That is since July 2020 Luca de Meo. The Italian looks back on the launch of Alpine with satisfaction.

Lots of new stuff at Alpine

Alpine showed a sky blue car to the world yesterday. The yellow and black of Renault is gone and the rebranding is now complete. De Meo is happy to see Alpine as a brand in Formula 1. "It is a true joy to see the powerful, vibrant Alpine name on a Formula One car", he said in a statement from the team.

"New colours, new managing team, ambitious plans: it’s a new beginning, building on a 40-year history. We’ll combine Alpine’s values of authenticity, elegance and audacity with our in-house engineering & chassis expertise," concludes the Italian.

Two team leaders and a new, old driver

The Alpine name enters Formula 1 with Marcin Budkowski and Davide Brivio to lead the team and has attracted Fernando Alonso for a return to F1. Esteban Ocon will be working for the second year as a driver for the team from Enstone.
