At this moment it is still not 100 per cent certain whether Lewis Hamilton will race for Mercedes next season. He has not yet signed his contract. That he intends to do so is clear from his latest message from his holiday home.

Although the seven-time world champion is on holiday in one of his favourite places in the world, he is also training hard. Every day, he climbs a mountain at an altitude of 3,400 metres and once at the top, he goes cross-country skiing.

Hamilton in a bubble

"I love altitude training", Hamilton says on Instagram. Training at altitude means there is less oxygen, which makes every effort a lot easier when he is back at sea level. Where exactly Hamilton is, he doesn't want to give away, but given the images and the altitude he is at, it's not somewhere in Europe.

Hamilton also ostensibly addresses his contract situation. "I’m trying to find the right balance in cardio and strength building. On top of that, lots of work ongoing in the background. Many moving parts but just checking in to let you know I’m doing good, I’m healthy and mentally strong right now in my bubble", he explains.
