Romain Grosjean is still not sure if he can return to his team for Abu Dhabi. The Frenchman has now been discharged from hospital, but it will be mainly up to his left hand to see if he can get back to his car quickly.

After his terrifying crash during the last race in Bahrain, Grosjean spent several days in hospital. Despite everything seeming to be going relatively well, he still had to stay an extra night. In any case, it will not be due to his positivity: the driver of Haas reports in several posts on social media how happy he is and how well he is doing.

He and his team have planned his return for the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi, but that will all depend on the recovery of his left hand, he tells the French newspaper L'Equipe. "If my left hand does not work next week and I am not able to do everything I have to do with it, I will not take any risks and I will not drive. But I try to rest as much as possible and follow the doctors' recommendations so that it heals."

Left side is in dire straits

"First, the swelling will have to decrease, because it is still quite considerable at the moment. The connective tissue of my thumb suffered a major blow during the crash. My whole left side has been badly hit. My left ankle is sprained, my left knee has been hit and I have large bruises on my left shoulder, my left buttock and my left forearm. My left thumb has not been spared either. Not only is this side more severely burned, but my thumb is also slightly sprained. I do have strength and I can move it, but I can't touch my little finger with it yet."

So his left ankle is also badly hit, but he says that the damage is not too bad. "I just keep ice on it all the time. It has improved in two days, so next week it will be gone. I'm not worried about that. It's only about my left hand, I still have a few more years to go so we can't mess it up," Grosjean concludes.
