Daniel Ricciardo is back in Australia and in his own country the Renault rider can train much more than he can normally do in the Monaco area. Now Ricciardo has all the equipment at his disposal, which you won't find in Monaco any time soon.

''In Formula 1 you have to deal with so many G-forces all over your body, while at the same time you have to stay focused and make the right choices. A two-hour race can take a very long time and that's why you have to be in shape from head to toe to keep that up," Ricciardo said in conversation with Men's Health.

Ricciardo is himself

However, there is a balance, because an F1 driver with a lot of muscles has never been seen before. ''That's because you don't want to carry a lot of weight in your car. The heavier you are, the slower you go, so we're not supposed to be much heavier because of the muscles'', says Ricciardo, who likes to alternate his exercise.

When Ricciardo then goes through his favourite programme, it is noticeable that not 'normal' equipment is used and that it is useful that the Australian back home with enough space. For example, Ricciardo has a large tyre of a tractor on which he hits with a hammer as an exercise for his upper body.

A unique training

After this 45 second exercise, Ricciardo rests for 45 seconds and continues throwing from the band from a squat. After another rest, Ricciardo continues with a squat in which he also lifts a large beam above his head. This is followed by walking with bags of cement and grinding chains backwards.

All these exercises aim to make Ricciardo better as a Formula 1 driver, but where most drivers might choose the usual 'gym equipment', Ricciardo has a whole stock of toys to have fun with.
