Sebastian Vettel came close to a world title twice in his time at Ferrari. Both in 2017 and 2018 he led the rankings in the first half of the season, only to lose to Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes in the course of the year. Felipe Massa believes that Vettel has nevertheless done very well at Ferrari.

Nobody knows better what it's like to lose in a Ferrari close to Lewis Hamilton than Massa. In 2008 the difference was made in one corner or he had become world champion. Vettel came a lot less close, but in his period at Ferrari achieved fourteen Grand Prix victories, three more than Massa. The Brazilian does not think that you can speak of a failed adventure.

"He has won many championships and races in his career and also at Ferrari I think he has done very well. He has won many races and even fought for championships. It has to be said that he never had the car to become a champion," says Massa in the vodcast of Sky Sports F1.

It wouldn't surprise Massa if the four-time world champion hangs his helmet on the willows after this year. According to him, Vettel always knows exactly what he wants and if he can't find a team that gives him the right opportunities, he just stops.
